Business Activities : HERI provides industry support activities geared around providing step-change improvement in competitive advantage for industry as a whole. HERI manages, on behalf of national governments and regional agencies, more than 20 industry support programmes across Europe, and has provided services, on behalf of Governments, to over 250,000 SME’s in the last decade. HERI is a not-profit distributing membership organisation, owned by its 1000 members, many of which are SME’s. To ensure there is not a conflict of interest with its research activities HERI does not retain ownership of any intellectual property.

Role in project : HERI were selected due to their specific experience and expertise in the development of medical devices. They have particular experience in the provision of palliative medical equipment for Cerebral Palsy patients having developed chairs, hoists and beds in the past. HERI will work in WP1, to determine a requirement specification and develop global concepts. They will also be essential in WP3, WP4 and WP5, the wheelchair and hoist design, the stability and clamping design and the power and control system. The integration and optimisation work package will be based at HERI with inputs from all of the partners.
